Scavenging unit and method using the same

Abstract

A scavenging unit comprising a housing 10 having at least two porous partitions positioned within said housing and defining therebetween a scavenging chamber 18 to be filled with a scavenging medium, a first of said at least two porous partitions 12 being positioned proximate an upstream end of said housing and a second one of said at least two porous positions 14 being positioned proximate a downstream end of said housing, said housing comprising a liquid inlet communicating with an upstream side of said first porous partition via an inlet chamber and a liquid outlet communicating with a downstream side of said second porous partition via an outlet chamber. The porous partitions may each have a pore size in the range of 10-80 µm. The pore size may be at least two times smaller than the particle size of the set scavenging medium. A method of use of the scavenging unit is also disclosed.
